Giveaway: Tooth Fairy 2, and Top 5 Film Fairies

Top 5 Film Fairies
Inspired by TOOTH FAIRY 2
In TOOTH FAIRY 2, Larry becomes part of a long list of awesome fairies on film. This feature will explore our top five favorite fairies, including Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Tinker Bell in Hook.
Enter at the bottom of this feature to win a copy of TOOTH FAIRY 2 on DVD!
Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Stanley Tucci stars as Puck in the 1999 film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In this adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic comedy, Tucci’s Puck is a clever and mischievous sprite, who, under the tutelage of King Oberon (played by Rupert Everett), plays tricks on unsuspecting lovers who wander into the forest which he inhabits. His hijinks include making people fall in love with each other, facilitating mud wrestling, and giving an amateur actor the head of an ass.
Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2

Jennifer Saunders voices the evil Fairy Godmother in 2004’s Shrek 2. This atypical fairy godmother is more of a self-involved business woman than the selfless fairy that people imagine, making shady deals, running a heartless factory, and using her magic for personal gain. However, Fairy Godmother’s shining moment may be when she performs a stellar rendition of “Holding Out For a Hero” at the royal ball, before being disintegrated by her own spell.
Tinker Bell in Hook

1991’s Hook follows a grown-up Peter Pan who has forgotten his childhood and all of the adventures it contained, but is forced to relive the magic of Neverland when Captain Hook abducts his children and holds them hostage there. In this revamp of the classic tale, Julia Roberts plays an especially fiesty version of Tinker Bell. Tinker Bell isn’t afraid to take controll of a situation, and often works to save Peter’s life because she is deeply in love with him.
Crysta in FernGully: The Last Rainforest

FernGully: The Last Rainforest is a 1992 animated film about a forest filled with magical creatures, and their struggle to save their home from pollution and logging. Crysta (voiced by Samantha Mathis) is a young fairy who meets a logger named Zak, and accidentally shrinks him down to her size. Crysta heroically battles Hexxus, an evil spirit that feeds off of pollution and destruction, and manages to defeat him and save FernGully.
Mandy in Ella Enchanted

In 2004’s Ella Enchanted, Minnie Driver plays Mandy, a kindhearted household fairy. Mandy is the only person, aside from Ella herself, who knows about Ella’s “gift” of obedience. While well meaning and helpful, Mandy’s spells often go awry. For instance, Mandy’s boyfriend, Benny, was accidentally turned into a book. However, in the end Mandy is able to help Ella reverse her curse of obdience and change Benny back into a human, making her an awesome fairy.

Mirrors and Movies

On the big screen....you can capture a lot in one scene.  "Set Designers" have to get the props just right to fit a certain scene, the right era, the mood, etc.  I love watching movies, the costume design, and set design can definitely make a movie.

The mirrors in the above 5 movies, really caught my eye.
A simple added touch of a mirror adds to the scene.

You can take, home design ideas, straight from the movies.  Turn any room in your home,  into a scene from your favorite movie, or using the inspiration from the ones above.

Have fun with it--Pick out the perfect mirror and turn your bedroom or bathroom into a blockbuster hit!!

Snow Day--Overload!!

We have had lots of snow the last few days.  Resulting in 3 Snow Days for my daughters from school.  I admit it has been nice to do nothing, and not have to worry about getting around.  I left the house once for work the 1st day and got stuck getting back into my driveway.  Day 2 didn't leave the house, Day 3 left once, and thankfully the snow was melting and thanks to a nice man down my street who snow plowed the driveway--it is now clear (pretty sure he felt sorry for me--I probably looked pretty pathetic trying to shovel my huge driveway that was like 12 inches deep :).

Here is a picture of my front yard

Here is more of the front of the house, and the driveway.
We are on a hill, and the driveway is a real mess.

This is just a glimpse of the backyard.  We love having a built-in sledding hill.

My daughters didn't even mess with sleds one day.  They just slid down.....
My oldest went down on her stomach like a penguin.  It is a funny picture, but they had a BLAST!!
I am glad the snow is melting, and I can safely drive again.
I have BIG plans tomorrow so I hope the weather cooperates.

Home Decor: Making your walls POP!!

I have a blank wall in my house right now, and want to do something to make it really POP!!  Lets focus on some wall decor that can help us all decorate our homes.

Wall Mirrors in different shapes, styles and colors would be perfect.
You could take an oval shaped mirror
pair it alongside a rectangle mirror, like the one below...
You can have fun mixing different designs, shapes, and colors.  You can even pair the mirrors with paintings, and even reprints of famous painters, or abstract pieces.  You can find some nice wall art, or you can take a less conventional approach to the wall art with this nice embroidered piece.

Get turning your drab walls into fab walls....mix and match, make a mural of pieces on any wall.

Endless Possibilities!!

To Kill A Mockingbird Upcoming Blu-ray Release!!

I love the book and movie of, "To Kill A Mockingbird."  One of my all-time favorites!!
It is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and will be released on Blu-Ray January 31st.

You can check-out a clip from the movie:

 and also,
In honor of the release, lets take a look at the "Top 5 Single Fathers in Film":

As the single father of Scout and Jem, Atticus faces many challenges of parenthood on his own. To celebrate the release of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD on Blu-ray on January 31, we will highlight five other famous and memorable single fathers in film, including Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happyness and Marlin from Finding Nemo.

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (1962)
In the classic film To Kill a Mockingbird, Gregory Peck plays Atticus Finch, the single father to young Scout (Mary Badham) and Jem (Phillip Alford). Through his work as a lawyer defending a wrongfully accused black man, Atticus teaches his children about racism in their small town, and helps them mature over the course of the film.
FINDING NEMO (2003)
After a barracuda kills Marlin’s wife and many of their unborn children, Marlin is left to care for their one surviving son, Nemo, on his own. But when a scuba diver captures Nemo, Marlin goes on a crazy adventure to retrieve his lost son, and, in the process, makes many friends and learns that he doesn’t need to be overly protective to be a good, caring father.

SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE (1993)
After losing his wife to cancer, Sam (Tom Hanks) moves himself and his son, Jonah, to Seattle in order to start over. When Jonah calls into a talk radio show to talk about his grieving father, Sam is persuaded to go on air and discuss how much he misses his wife. Annie (Meg Ryan) is listening to the show in Baltimore, and writes to Sam to meet he and Jonah in New York.
THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS (2006)
In The Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith stars as Chris Gardner, a man who, after a poor business investment is left by his wife. Left homeless and forced to raise his son (played by his real life son, Jaden Smith) alone, Chris is able to find an internship in San Francisco’s Financial District and is ultimately offered a job which allows him to make a better life for he and his son.

MRS. DOUBTFIRE (1993)

When Daniel’s (Robin Williams) wife Miranda (Sally Field) divorces him, he is given limited visitation rights to his children. In order to see his kids more than once a week, Daniel poses as a widowed British nanny, and is hired on by his ex-wife to look after the children. After Daniel’s ruse is discovered, he faces harsh consequences, but his ex eventually relents and allows him to see his kids.

Kids and Chores: GoalForit!!

It is a New Year and with it comes re-evaluate what is working and not working in our lives, making goals, and just trying to get a fresh start.  GoalForIt.com is the perfect place to get started.  You can organize goal setting, to do lists, and behavior charts.  Goalforit!! is a new online resource that provides free solutions for personal success.  I am getting started with their Chore Chart feature.

My girls have a real hard time doing chores around the house.  I end up doing the things they don't just because it is less of a hassle.  Well...I am sick of it.  They need to learn responsibility, and Goalforit's chore charts are perfect.  I have customized charts for my girls that I print off, and use stickers to fill in what they do.  Then either daily or at the end of a week we will get on the site, and put in their marks, and let them see what rewards they are able to earn.  I was able to pick the chores they earn, and then assign the amount of "moolah" they receive for doing each chore.  Then I am also able to assign my own rewards for certain values.  My girls are getting so excited to cash in their "moolah."

I hope this helps them stay motivated to help around the house, and feel accomplished in what they help with. I feel this will also help with money management.   I am looking forward to setting up their Behavior Charts too, and focusing on what is right and wrong.  I want it to help them strengthen their judgement and behavior in and outside of the home.

The site is easy to navigate, I had my daughter's chore charts set-up and printed off within 15minutes, and it only took that long because I couldn't decide on the design for them.  Get 2012 started off right!!

Have fun getting things organized in your life, and setting your family up for success.

Reverse Charades is a must play game for the holidays!!

THE PERFECT HOLIDAY GIFT

Have fun with the entire family and play Reverse Charades, and get the kiddos involved too, with Reverse Charades Junior.

Get the family all together for some "side-splitting unforgettable group fun!"  Reverse Charades is a twist on classic charades.  The entire team acts out as many words as one person can guess.   It gets CRAZY!!

It is definitely a must-have game.  With over 720 words you can play over and over again without repeats.

Also, if crazy Uncle Bob is around, he will fit right it with all the fun.  He may even make things even more exciting.

Your family game nights, parties, or game nights with friends will never be the same.

Reverse Charades Junior is also fun for kids.  My daughters took a little bit to get the hang of it.  However, once they quit talking and making sounds while acting things out, there was no stopping them!!  I think there was more laughter then anything.  Especially when mom got into the action too.

You can purchase Reverse Charades or Reverse Charades Junior online  or on Amazon, you can also find a store near you.

Follow Reverse Charades on Twitter
"LIKE" Reverse Charades on Facebook

Don't wait--would be a fun addition to your New Year's Eve festivities!!
